The Kennett Board of Public Works (KBPW) in Kennett, Missouri, partnered with Evergy Energy Partners (EEP) to provide its customers with cost-effective and reliable renewable energy resources to establish a more sustainable future for its customers. In fact, with this commitment, KBPW will be able to serve up to 15% of the City’s peak demand with renewable energy. KBPW chose EEP through a competitive request for proposals (RFP) process to choose a solar energy solution that benefited the entire community.

KBPW is committed to a sustainable future while understanding the importance of ensuring affordable power. The commitment to solar will provide clean energy and will contribute to economic growth for the city. Together, KBPW and EEP are providing a foundation to bring sustainable and affordable power solutions to the citizens of Kennett to ensure a clean and economic future. 

About Kennett, Missouri

Kennett, Missouri, a city nestled in the southeast corner of the state, is located just four miles east of Arkansas and twenty miles from the Mississippi River. The City of Kennett, with its thriving population of about 10,000 residents, is dedicated to providing clean and affordable energy solutions to the community.

Kennett Board of Public Works (KBPW) is a long-time customer of Evergy and we are excited to support KBPW in bringing clean energy solutions to the citizens of Kennett.

Kennett Solar Array

Evergy and KBPW broke ground on the 30-acre solar array in 2024 and finished construction in the fall of 2025. The large-scale bifacial solar array is expected to generate over 5 megawatts of energy for the residents of the City of Kennett, Missouri.

  • Completed in the fall of 2025
  • Located on 30 acres of city owned land
  • Nearly 7,800 solar panels
  • Expected to generate over 5 MW of energy
  • Enough electricity to power over 965 homes annually

Our Goal

The goal of the Kennett Board of Public Works Solar Array project is to deliver reliable, cost-effective renewable energy to the community while advancing sustainability and economic growth. Through its partnership with EEP KBPW aims to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources, supply up to 15% of the city’s peak demand with clean solar power, and create a long-term foundation for affordable, environmentally responsible energy solutions for the residents of Kennett, Missouri.
